"This species was described by Meneghini (1844: 186) from Dalmatia (Croatia). It was listed by Ardissone (1871: 50) among 'species doubtful or lacking in my collections'; Hauck (1882: 112) listed it among the synonyms of C. echionotum." (Cormaci & al. 2023: 198). - (10 November 2023) - M.D. Guiry
