Taxonomic notes
Likely to be a phase in the life history of members of the Scytosiphonaceae; see Fletcher (1987, p. 253, 257), and note under Petalonia fascia. John et al. (2004) give Ralfsia bornetii Kuckuck as a synonym of this species.
