The type species (holotype) of the genus Syringoderma is Syringoderma abyssicola (Setchell & N.L.Gardner) Levring.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Microzonia japonica (Kloczcova & Przhemenetskaya) Camacho & Fredericq.
