The type species (holotype) of the genus Caloglossa is Caloglossa leprieurii (Montagne) G.Martens.

Type Information
Type locality: "river mouth of Ko-yahagi-gawa" [actually Yahagifurukawa River, Aichi Pref., Japan]; (Okamura 1903: 129) Lectotype (designated by King and Puttock 1994): Kintaro Okamura 67; vii.1902; TI; (King & Puttock 1994) Notes: Type "not found" by Necchi & Vis (2022: 74). the current name of Mikawa is not Ishikawa Prefecture but Aichi Prefecture. "Ko-yahagi-gawa" is misreading of Chinese characters by Okamura (1903). The correct place name is "Yahagifurukawa" or "Yahagifurukawa River". (Masahiro Suzuki pers. comm. July 2024).
