This is the type species (holotype) of the genus Caloglossa.

Status of name
This name is of an entity that is currently accepted taxonomically.

Delesseria leprieurii Montagne

Type information
Type locality: Sinnamary, NW of Cayenne, French Guiana (Lipkin & Silva 2002: 30). Holotype: Leprieur; 20 November 1841; PC (Womersley 2003: 25). Notes: Yoshida (1998: 967) notes that the type is in herb. Montagne, PC. Isotype: LD 31909-12 (Post, 1936: 52). Kamiya et al. (2003:494) give the following data: French Guiana, near Cayenne (lectotype of C. leprieurii, L0055717). Silva (2004: 556) designated lectotype: mouth of Sinnamary River, French Guiana, Leprieur 356 (PC: Herb. Thuret-Bornet TA 22509/22510). Krayesky et al. (2011: 47) follow the selection of Kamiya et al. (2003) because they maintain it was validly designated.

General environment
This is a marine species.

Habitat
Tropical or cool temperate oceans. In Australia on Avicennia trunks and pneumatophores, and on rock and jetty piles, in calm localities; extending upstream in fresh-water in some localities (womersley 2003: 25).
