Distributional note
Norris (1985: 133) notes that there is one collection tentatively referred to this species [Gracilaria rhodotricha (Dawson) Papenfuss, 1967/Gracilariopsis rhodotricha Dawson, 1949] i.e. E.Y. Dawson#6847, US, specimens dredged from 20 m, Bahia de San Lucas, Baja California del Sur). Originally described from Isla Clarion and reported from other Revilla Gigedo Islands (Dawson 1949; 1961a), its presence in the Gulf needs confirmation based on the finding of gametangial plants.
Abbott (1995: 195) notes that this species was found in Vietnam but has not been examined by a specialist in gracilarioids. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
