Nomenclatural note
Woelkerling & Lamy in Woelkerling (1998) considered that this was an illegitimate name because the type specimen of Lithophyllum aequabile was cited in its protologue. Hommersand et al. (2009: 512) disagreed: "We interpret the citation as part of the itemization of specimens examined, not as inclusion of a specimen in the circumscription of the new species, and therefore regard the name as valid." - (19 January 2010) - M.D. Guiry
Taxonomic note
