Original publication and holotype designation: Yan, Q.F., Liu, B.W., Liu, G.X. & Zhu, H. (2025). Luticula terrestris gen. et sp. nov. (Kornmanniaceae, Ulvales, Chlorophyta), a soil green algal genus from China. Phycological Research 00: [1–8], 4 figures.

Description: Terrestrial, thalli are pseudoparenchymatous, with irregular filamentous branches, mostly bilateral and sometimes unilateral. Cells are often mononucleated. The chloroplast of the vegetative cell is shallowly cup-shaped, sometimes filling the entire cell, with a pyrenoid. The length/ width ratio of the terminal cells is usually 2.0–4.0. Asexual reproduction is achieved through the germination of akinete.
