Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Monomorphina pyrum (Ehrenberg) Mereschkowsky.

Type locality: Germany: Berlin; (Index Nominum Algarum) Lectotype: fig. V in Ehrenberg: Permanently preserved material of strain ACOI 2778 (cells in resin, for EM); figs 1, a-d and 2, j-l (epitype) Herbariumof the Department of Plant Systematic and Geography at Warsaw University; (Kosmala et al. 2007: 177, 178) Notes: The culture from which the epitype was described has been deposited in the Algae Culture Collection of the Department of Botany, University of Coimbra, Portugal, as number ACOI 2778 and in the Culture Collection of Algae at the University of Cologne (CCAC), Germany (Kosmala et al. 2007: 178, 179).
