Melobesia darwinii Harvey 1849
Melobesia darwinii Harvey 1849: 109
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lithothamnion darwinii (Harvey) Areschoug.
Notes: Wilks & Woelkerling (1991: 529) note that the type is apparently missing. The specimen from King George Sound, Western Australia, upon which Harvey (1849) based the protologue of Melobesi darwinii could not be found. The status and disposition is in doubt, but from the description it is almost certainly not a Melobesia.
This is a species.
