This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Jaagichlorella sphaerica (Tschermak-Woess) Darienko & Pröschold.

New Zealand: Wairea Senic Reserve (phycobiont of Pseudocyphellaria carpoloma);

Adjective (Latin), globose, spherical (Stearn 1973).

Habitat
Subaerial: photobiont of lichen Pseudocyphellaria carpoloma (Karsten et al., 2005: 560).
