Taxonomic note
Komárek & Anagnostidis (2005: 465) note with respect to Phormidium baculum and Leibleinia baculum that "...both taxa are based on the same type, but probably represent different concepts. The final taxonomic and nomenclatoric solution depends on further studies. "Lyngbya baculum is the type species of the genus Leibleinia." - (22 April 2014) - M.D. Guiry
