Syntype localities: Cromer and Yarmouth, Norfolk, England (South & Skelton, 2003).

Habitat note
Widespread in warm and warm-temperate seas. Very common in shallow waters (Lipkin & Silva 2002). Epilithic on bedrock, more frequently on mobile substrata such as pebbles, shells and maerl, tolerant of sand-cover, in mid-to lower-shore pools and from extreme low water to 20 m depth, occasional on wave-exposed bedrock lacking kelp forest but rarely under kelp canopy, common at wave-sheltered sites with moderate to strong current exposure; particularly abundant in Zostera marina beds (Maggs & Hommersand 1993). - (09 June 2010) - G.M.
