Type locality: La Paz, Lower California, Mexico (Setchell & Gardner 1924: 720). Holotype: Marchant No. 68x; May; Growing on various species of Laurencia. (Setchell & Gardner 1924: 720). Notes: The authors do not give an herbarium location for the type. Type: CAS (in UC); collected by Dr and Mrs Marchant in 1917 (INA). Holotype: UC #221049 (Nielsen et al. 2013: 51)

resembling, or growing on or in species of the genus Marchantia.
