Type locality: Duino (near Trieste), Adriatic Sea [marine localtion] (Womersley 1984: 157). Type: W Wulfen No. 23 (Hayden et al. 2003: 289, table 4).

Origin of species name
Adjective (Latin), zigzag, bent alternately in opposite directions (Stearn 1973).
