Hughey et al. (2001), using molecular data, showed that the type material of Iridophycus furcatus Setchell & N.L. Gardner, from Sitka, Alaska, was conspecific with Mazaella phyllocarpa (Postels & Ruprecht) Perestenko. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
